Why It’s Hard to Lose Butt Fat

Butt fat (or gluteofemoral fat) is among the hardest area of the body to lose fat in.  Let’s talk about why it’s so hard to lose butt fat:

  1. There is less blood flow to the buttocks than in other areas.  Because of this, there is less flow out of the butt area.  And if there is less blood flow out of that area, there is a lower amount of fat cells that can be transported away from that area at any given time as opposed to other areas of the body.  This is not to say that you can’t lose butt fat but just know that it will take longer to do so.
  2. The butt is a long-term fat storage site.  Look at your butt as your back-up fuel tank.  There has to be some area that serves as the back-up energy storage site in your body for those times when you might need it (pregnancy, potential starvation, fighting illnesses, etc.) and it just so happens that the butt is that area!
  3. Because of the first 2 reasons, the buttocks are not as responsive as other parts of the body to fat loss.

The good news?

The good news is that you CAN lose butt fat to a good degree.

The bad news?

You will need the one thing that can be difficult to master but is essential:  patience.
